The CASCADE pool complex, which has saunas, a restaurant and a bar, is a fabulous example of green technology conceptualization. The complex obtains up to 100 percent of its energy from eco-friendly sources: a combination of hydroelectric power and its own 190 kW photovoltaic system, which can meet up to 35 percent of the electricity demand. The biomass plant heats the complex. The building has ClimateHouse certification, and received the South Tyrol Architecture Award in 2011.
